Exclusive Daddy Freddy & Bunny General - Freestyle - Live Music at YouTube Studios Official Video

The world's fastest rapper according to the Guinness Book of World Records, Jamaican-born Daddy Freddy was also one of the first artists to fuse ragga and dancehall with hip-hop, helping establish a style that would become highly influential during the '90s. Freddy (born S. Frederick Small, 1965, Kingston) grew up in the Trenchtown area and began performing for his uncle's sound system, eventually moving on to join Lieutenant Stitchie and, most importantly, Sugar Minott. His gig with Minott's sound system helped make his name in Jamaica (and, following an overseas tour, the U.K.); in 1985, he made his first recording for Clement "Coxsone" Dodd's Studio One label, a single titled "Zoo Party," that was built on the rhythm of the early ragga smash "Under Mi Sleng Teng." Aided by his hit debut album Body Lasher, Freddy scored a remarkable six Top Ten hits in Jamaica during 1986, including a collaboration with Pinchers, called "Joker Lover," which topped the charts.

In 1987, Freddy returned to the U.K., where he signed with the Music of Life label and began working with producer Asher D. The resulting album, Raggamuffin Hip-Hop, was one of the first fusions of dancehall toasting with hip-hop rhythms, breaking a great deal of new ground. Freddy continued to record dancehall reggae singles for the Jamaican audience while making guest appearances with pop and dance artists like Go West, Melissa Morgan, and Beats International (the pre-Fatboy Slim project of Norman Cook). In 1988, Freddy entered the Guinness Book of World Records with a rap that topped 500 syllables per minute. Despite success in the U.K. and Jamaica, Freddy hadn't made as much of an impression in the States, and he aimed to change that by signing with Chrysalis for the 1991 album Stress and the accompanying single "Daddy Freddy's in Town." Both enjoyed modest success, and the Capitol-issued follow-up album, Raggamuffin Soldier, scored positive reviews, but Freddy never quite became a breakout star in America even with his tremendous technical skill. Freddy soon elected to take a break from his frenetic late-'80s recording schedule, releasing his last Music of Life album, The Big One. However, he staged a comeback in 2000 with the acclaimed Old School, New School, a collaboration with new U.K. dub wizard the Rootsman. Freddy subsequently returned to Jamaica to begin recording some new dancehall material.

Claudius Douglas, better known as Bunny General, is recognized and respected worldwide as a veteran reggae and dancehall artist. He began performing in the dance hall with various sound systems long before he got an opportunity to work on a stage show. Some of the sounds that he would frequently work with back then were Rocking Saint, Elrino, Stur Mars and Cosmic Force. He eventually graduated from performing in the dance halls to taking the stage and entertaining the masses. Bunny as he is affectionately called, began making music in the late seventies and officially got his recognition in 1983. That was the year he recorded and released β€œgoat rider” for King Tubbys. The success of that single opened doors for Bunny General and made it possible for him to voice for major names such as King Jammys, Bobby Digital, Mikey Bennet and other decorated labels. Bunny General has done work with artists like Lt. Stitchie, Papa San, Johnny Ringo, Yellow Man, Josey Wales, Charley Chaplin, Early B, Super Cat, Beenie Man and many others in the capacity of either touring, collaborating and/or songwriting. He can also boast several number ones in various countries and the release of albums for Digital B, Johnny P and Tuffis. Having no intentions of slowing down, Bunny General released singles in 2011 on several rhythm-driven projects like Preview, Tour and others. Additionally, he was recently booked for a two-month European tour alongside dancehall heavyweight, Junior Cat.

Exclusive Anthony Johnson - Gunshot - Live Music at YouTube Studios Official Video

Anthony Johnson is a Jamaican Reggae singer who is known for the 1980s hit song β€œEvery Day is a Gunshot”. Anthony is well known in Jamaica and on the European reggae circuit. He lives in the UK, but he does show up in France, Germany, Slovenia and Italy. He has a large discography. Mr Johnson may be characterized as a roots rock, lover of rock reggae artist who specializes in singing music with positive and uplifting themes. He is truly travelling along the path travelled by giants such as Bob Marley and Burning Spears. Anthony was born in Kingston, Jamaica at the Jubilee Hospital. His mother Cynthia Hamilton was a market woman by trade, and his father was a Barbadian who worked at the Sombrero Club in Kingston.

Anthony’s parents had three children together before separating. They also had other children separately, so Johnson has several siblings. Johnson was raised by his mother in a tenement yard from the heart of Trench Town. Byah’s yard at 15Β½ James Street is significant in Johnson’s development as an artist and musician. This yard doubles as a popular dancehall on weekends and holidays. Some of the big sound systems of the era played at dances in Byah’s yard. As a child, Roy could not help hearing the hot Studio One and Treasure Isles hits of the 60s and early 70s.β€œEvery day is a Gunshot” has become a dancehall anthem around the world.

It appeared on the soundtrack of the movie entitled β€œThe Bank Job.” It was one of the first major hits to plea for a cessation of the so-called β€œshotta” mentality that now has a stranglehold on Jamaica. Mr Johnson has to be considered one of the legends of reggae. The message in his songs is positive. He sings about love, peace and justice. He exhorts the youths of Jamaica and around the world to throw away their guns and follow good role models. In β€œChucky No Lucky” one of his songs he sings about not wanting to be a gunman. This type of lyric is rare in Reggae today. In another song he sings we don’t want no more war. Nowadays Jamaican artists tend to want to brag and boast about being shottas and gangsters in their songs.

For Anthony, his world is all about Peace and Harmony. Anthony Johnson is out now on Blue Pie for the world. Search on iTunes and eMusic and download him today.

Official Reggae Exclusive at Rub A Dub Camp: Junior Cat Live In Jamaica Live Music Performance πŸ‡―πŸ‡²

Born Ricardo Maragh in Kingston, Jamaica, JUNIOR CAT started making his way through the rugged ranks of dancehall leagues in his early teens while hanging out in the local clubs, shops and street corners of the Cockburn Pen community. "The Pen," at the time, was the hub for the reggae industry's finest architects. Junior Cat's popularity grew when he entertained the masses with his quick-witted freestyling while effortlessly "riding a riddim," without so much as skipping a beat. His climb to fame was, however, more painstaking as he was often compared to his older brother, Super Cat who was already making his way to mainstream fame. That, however, did not impede JUNIOR CAT's ambition.

After winning a local talent contest, Junior Cat extended his prowess to Sound Systems -where greats like Early B; Puddy Roots; Little Twitch and Ninja Man gathered at dances to compete with one another in support of their "Sound." Soundclash competitions began to spread throughout the island taking the artists to higher levels of fame around the world. Fans then and now pay big money to be in the presence of a Sound Clash especially when there is an artist performing live alongside the selectors. The bigger the Sound, the more exhilarating the experience. Junior Cat, a bad boy per se, quickly built a reputation for holding no prisoners on the mic with the toughest lines that made grown men run in shame and were a regular feature on what would later become the World Famous Killamanjaro Sound.

JUNIOR CAT was given his first opportunity to record a song by producer King Jammy and that single, NEVER DIS THE PROGRAM amazingly entered the National Charts at #3. It wasn't long before he had a succession of single hits (Can't Nyam Me Out, Clappers And Bomb, Curve, Dead Man, Deportee, Figure, Inna Me Gun Mouth, Funeral Bag, Original Dog Heart, Killing Pussy, Make A Living, Nah Lef It Far, Rougher Than Rough, Sample, Slick Rick, Top Dog, Who So Ever Will May Come, and Wickedest Gun) that kept his voice steady on the airwaves which led to the recording of his debut album "Top Dog," (1992) again on the King Jammy's label. Junior Cat, as expected, was becoming a catalyst in the game.

After receiving much success from the release of Top Dog, JUNIOR CAT moved to New York and signed to his brother's Wild Apache Label. During that union, he recorded several more songs, SECOND HAND DON, DJ ORIGINATOR, and TELL THEM STOP IT, before collaborating with Super Cat, Nicodemus, and Junior Demus on Columbia Records' The Good, The Bad, The Ugly and The Crazy.

Shortly after the album dropped, JUNIOR CAT's contract with Wild Apache expired and instead of renewing, he chose to seek his own and pursued opportunities that took him on several tours throughout the hungering reggae markets of Europe, Japan and South America. He headed back into the studio to produce and record more Specials on independent labels before finally deciding to endeavour in another area of the music business and forming his own label MR. MARAGH MUSIC. He has been producing other artists as well as his own music in other countries and collaborating with giants of the Hip Hop community to create a new style of hits proving his versatility and loyalty to the art of his genre simultaneously expanding his fanbase to the younger generation.

In the last couple of years, a matured JUNIOR CAT has eloquently expressed his Spiritual side via Conscious/Roots Reggae which highly reflects his Rastafarian faith. This connection is heard on his new album tentatively titled, Fight Back slated for a late Winter/Early Spring 2014 release. The first single, JAH WORKS, will be the first single to drop at the end of November 2013 before the height of the Holiday Season with another joint, NO ROCK AWAY shortly thereafter.
